The sell-off of these enterprises will bury the corruption committed earlier
MULTAN: It has taken the government quite a long time to signal the privatisation of PIA and the Pakistan Steel Mills. The two entities have caused billions of losses to the national exchequer. This point has not been reached overnight; it has taken decades of mismanagement and embezzlement to turn these national units into loss-generating entities.
As the condition of many other state-owned entities is no different, so privatising them is not a solution. The approach should rather deal with the inefficiencies, favoured appointments of the incompetent and corruption. The sell-off of these enterprises will bury the corruption committed earlier
