One way to tackle the issue could be an action by courts against these officials and the incumbent government
KARACHI: The recent statement from the chief justice of Pakistan that there are officials in Punjab’s government departments who have been awarded out-of-turn promotions despite them being involved in cases of extra-judicial killings, speaks of various tactics the government practises to protect the culprits in its offices.
Perhaps, one way to tackle the issue could be an action by courts against these officials and the incumbent government for such occurrences, as when it is the government itself involved the judiciary is then the one institution left to take the necessary action.
