Life has become cheap

A 25-year-old singer was shot dead by three men

PESHAWAR: The murder of a female singer in Mardan shows the deeply rooted misogynistic culture in our country. A 25-year-old singer was shot dead by three men for allegedly refusing to perform at their private party.

In Pakistan, the cost of life is lower than entertainment at someone’s party — and that is where the problem lies. But as usual, once again, the authorities concerned and the people are going to choose to ignore it and go on about performing their daily chores.
