The legal fraternity has insulted the court’s verdict
KARACHI: It is shocking that the lawyers’ association boycotted courts a few days ago in a mark of protest against the conviction of Senator Nehal Hashmi for his disrespectful remarks about the superior judiciary. The legal fraternity has insulted the court’s verdict that sentenced the senator to a month’s imprisonment and disqualification from holding any public office for five years. Regardless of the standing and stance of the lawyers’ groups, the integrity and the sanctity of the institution of the judiciary demands that equal and unbiased treatment be given to anyone who is found guilty of dishonouring the judiciary despite their position or political stature.
