The art of writing

Letter February 04, 2018
'Writing' has existed as an art for centuries

LAHORE: This letter is in response to Chris Cork’s article titled ‘Hello... I am a dinosaur’, published in this paper on February 1st. The author astoundingly has written upon the technological evolution and its impact upon the field of journalism. The article also points at the skill of writing using the conventional methods of pen and a paper, for the purpose.

Unlike other technological advancements, it has taken centuries for writing and its variants to evolve into what we have today in the contemporary times. Yet the extinction of it owing to the replacement of paper and pen with computer screens and keyboards is the worst thing to happen to ‘writing’ which with its numerous ways has existed as an art for centuries. It is the need of the time not to let the technology, which has its own cons, take over the beautiful skill possessed by mankind in the form of writing.
