Accusations by the leadership are detrimental to the relations between Pak-Afghan relations
FAISALABAD: Foreign Secretary Tehmina Janjua is currently leading a delegation to Afghanistan, prior to which an Afghan delegation met with Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi in Islamabad. Such proceedings imply the engagement of the two countries, Afghanistan and Pakistan, in peace-building efforts. Although the recent claim of Afghan President Ashraf Ghani has rather contradicted the recent developments in the relationship between the two countries. Asking Pakistan to take concrete action against the Taliban, the Afghan president accused Pakistan of having terrorist safe havens on its soil. Such statements by the top-level leadership of Afghanistan are detrimental to the improvement of relations between the two countries. As both are affected by deadly terrorist acts, it is important to give thoughtful statements about each other and build a narrative conducive to peacemaking initiatives and efforts.
