Silence of the agencies

Letter May 05, 2011
A lot of people are wondering why the military and its intelligence agencies are silent on the Osama bin Laden raid.

LAHORE: A lot of people are wondering why the military and its intelligence agencies are silent on the Osama bin Laden raid. Right now, there is a democratic government in place in the country and it should be its prerogative to come out with a statement on the issue. Right now, the statements being made by the prime minister, the Foreign Office and our ambassador in Washington DC, all seem to be contradicting one another. Also, if the military were to make a public statement on it, then people will say that the elected government is being undermined.
