ISLAMABAD: According to a news report, the fast emerging port city of Gwadar is facing acute power and water shortages. At some point in the future Gwadar will have the country’s largest airport along with more infrastructural marvels. Owing to a lack of thoughtful planning, the region has meagre water and power resources which are already insufficient to meet the current needs of its residents. As the city is already a major contributor to the global oil trade share, dealing with the power crisis should not be a big deal. Further, it is expected that the situation will change once the master plan for the region will be submitted to the Pakistani authorities by their Chinese counterparts.
