It is important to evaluate the value of their votes for the improvement of governance in the country
LAHORE: The PTI has recently filed a petition in the Supreme Court seeking voting rights for overseas Pakistanis, stating that these Pakistani nationals have a constitutional right to vote. The party perhaps wants to cash in on its support from Pakistani nationals residing abroad in the form of more votes. However, Pakistani expats residing in foreign countries for decades are less likely to be fully aware of facts on the ground and hence their support for a particular political party would not be of much help for the locals, particularly those from vulnerable communities that are embroiled in issues domestic in nature, yet important to evaluate the broader issue of governance.
It is important to evaluate the value of their votes for the improvement of governance in the country.
