Poverty and bad governance

Letter January 18, 2018
Poverty can also mean not having enough money to be able to pay for basic necessities

HYDERABAD: In today’s Pakistan, poverty is one of the many perturbing issues the the country is grappling with. There is a great divide between the rich and the poor. There are many reasons as to why there is poverty in the country. Being a poor person means that one does not have enough food to eat for days, or even months. Poverty can also mean not having enough money to be able to pay for basic necessities such as clothing, food, shelter or even the inability to afford medicines that one may need to save life.

Poverty is not a natural phenomenon, but is created by all of us because we elect a government that is incompetent and doesn’t do enough. The system of governance in Pakistan is disappointing.

Hence, we have to be the change that we want. Nothing will change, unless we will not. And if we really want that change, then we have to raise our voice against those who are incompetent rulers.
