Chaotic Karachi Eat festival

KARACHI: Roads and traffic routes witnessed a massive traffic jam and chaos on Friday evening, Jan 12th, as Karachiittes visited Benazir Park that is hosting the three-day-long Karachi Eat festival this year. Although the festival has become a successful annual fest offering attendees range of delicacies, the mismanagement on the part of the organisers caused inconvenience to everyone who drove through the same routes and vicinity in Clifton and Defence areas of the city.

Even the hassle for the attendees was no less, as they stood in the queue that was spread over the entire Khayaban-e-Saadi driveway for hours to enter the venue. Also, to cater to the crowd of almost over a thousand, the entire venue had only one entry and exit points that too were adjacent to each other. On the other hand, to ensure security at the park cellular services were jammed which in fact caused inconvenience to almost everyone attending the festival. Compared to this year’s event, previous events were far more organised and better managed.

The management should really work around these issues and try to make the festival a convenient experience rather than only focusing on earning profits by increasing the number of food stalls that stood at 125 this year.
