Previously, months-long protests by the PAT and the PTI cost millions in losses to the government
LAHORE: With the passing of the deadline of January 7th for the resignation of the chief minister and law minister of Punjab, the Pakistan Awami Tehreek is all set to embark upon its protest drive to send the PML-N government home.
Disappointingly, a movement built upon the premise of seeking justice for the Model Town victims is now entirely focused on toppling the current government.
On the other hand, the authorities concerned should also remember that sit-ins come with a price. Previously, months-long protests by the PAT and the PTI cost millions in losses to the government and the authorities in the capital. Hence, rationally, while the government should be provided a cover by the judiciary against its regime being toppled, the PAT along with its allies should avoid a protest drive directed at overthrowing the government for the betterment of the people.
