TURBAT: The year 2017 will be remembered as a ‘black year’ for the country as terror attacks took numerous innocent lives, especially in the city of Lahore where terrorism wreaked havoc making the city victim to as many as five terrorist attacks which claimed at least 58 lives and left another 250 people injured.
According to a report in this paper, the first incident occurred on February 12 on Mall Road where at least 13 people, including seven policemen, were killed and 85 people injured. The second blast occurred at a café in a market in Defence Housing Authority on February 23. At least eight people were killed and 39 injured in the attack. The third incident was a suicide blast targeting a census team on Barki Road on April 5. Seven people, including four armymen, were killed and 22 injured in the incident. The fourth incident occurred on July 24 on Ferozpur Road where a total of 26 people were killed with 58 injured. The last attack took place at the Outfall Road in the Lower Mall police limits where a fruit truck rigged with explosives exploded. The incident claimed two lives and left 46 injured.
Considering the above-mentioned terrorist attacks, the authorities concerned and the government are requested to redouble their efforts for eradicating terrorism to bring peace in the county so that our countrymen can live without fear.
