External Affairs should rather thank Pakistani officials for arranging the visit than maligning them

KARACHI: After rounds of negotiations between authorities of India and Pakistan, the mother and the wife of Indian spy Kulbhushan Jadhav were allowed to visit Pakistan to meet the convicted Indian spy. The meeting took place under tight security. However, after the two women returned to India and met with the Indian foreign minister, the Indian Ministry of External Affairs has accused Pakistan of violating the terms decided for the meeting and treating the two in a discriminatory manner.

However, regardless of the fact of the application of the law of the land on spies, it goes without saying that ensuring security and eliminating any potential security loopholes ought to be the foremost priority of not just the Pakistani authorities but any other country dealing with the same circumstances. Hence, the Indian Ministry of External Affairs should rather thank Pakistani officials for arranging the visit than maligning them.
