The details of the agreement reached are yet to be released by the officials concerned
KARACHI: As progress is being made towards Fata’s merger with K-P and there is news about likely abolition of the Frontier Crimes Regulations (FCR), a sense of optimism with regard to political consensus over a major issue has emerged. The details of the agreement reached are yet to be released by the officials concerned. However, if Fata’s merger with K-P materialises, it would be a major milestone for the PML-N government after CPEC.
As an important meeting in connection with the planned merger was attended by officials from the armed forces as well, it is likely that this time around matters will be resolved with the civil and military leadership being on the same page over the matter. Further, the same is expected from the JUI-F and other political parties. They are expected to set aside their differences and join the government in supporting the merger, thereby they will be making their contribution to a good cause.
