KARACHI: State enshrines power through laws upon its citizens so that they can be protected, secured while simultaneously being empowered. But in our country power is mostly misused by those who wield it to their own benefit. With that, many individuals often surpass the legally defined limits. A CCTV video from Karachi broadcast by a national news channel on December 22nd made me realise how unprotected we as citizens are as those responsible for protecting us misuse their powers to unlawfully benefit those close to them. It takes no time for minor arguments to turn into life-threatening arguments as one deems it necessary to cast the shadow of his power and influence over the other.
To the common people, the ordeal of seeking help from government offices is enough of a detriment to stop them from pursuing the matter. For women, the hurdles are twice of what men have to pull through. This leaves us with the question of what should we do! Who should we complain to? From whom we can ask for help? These questions must be answered!
