I am conservative because I think it’s foolish to spend millions on weddings
KARACHI: I am conservative as I see people driven away from their values, following the confused, ideologically struggling nations. I see my youth; so energetic, blessed in body and mind, yet never going without complaining of not having an easy trajectory to walk on and get name, fame and wealth. I see women, confusing liberty and freedom with earning money, which they wouldn’t have to by working their days out if it wasn’t about the fake sense of self-control they feel entitled to.
I am conservative for not understanding the reasons for the masses going crazy over a discount sale on a high-end brand or label, in a poor country with half of its people living below the poverty line. Where thousands of poor children die because of unavailability of food, drinkable water and adequate sanitation facilities and many never reach their full physical and mental potential due to malnutrition and outbreak of diseases.
I am conservative because I think it’s foolish to spend millions on weddings and even more when one does not have enough and if it could cost them a life-time of debt. I am conservative to the degree that I want the government to ban these manufacturers or marketers from placing young girls, sprucely attired, alongside their products just to attract customers.
It is unfortunate that proving ourselves to others have become rooted within us so strongly that no limit has become the new common for us.
