Kashmir is important to the Pakistani nation
KARACHI: It was decided during the days leading to Pakistan’s independence, that the provinces having Muslim majority should be included in Pakistan. The wishes of the people of Kashmir who were more than willing to join Pakistan have, unfortunately, not seen the light of the day. Pakistan took the matter to the UN. The UN formed commissions for a peaceful settlement of the Kashmir issue. The commission presented two resolutions on August 13, 1948 and January 5, 1949, which were accepted by the Indian and Pakistani governments and approved by the Security Council.
CM and AJK PM vow to fight for Kashmir
However, the efforts of the Security Council have so far remained unfruitful. In 1971, the Shimla agreement was drafted but India did not agree to abide by the bilateral negotiations decided in the agreement. The people of Kashmir have stood up against the Indian forces and they are fighting for their freedom, which India will have to accord them today or tomorrow.
Kashmir is important to the Pakistani nation. The government must take steps for the resolution of the Kashmir issue.
