Media policy and guidelines

Letter December 15, 2017
It is about time that the government and the media regulatory bodies developed a clear and concrete regulatory policy

LAHORE: It is about time that the government and the media regulatory bodies developed a clear and concrete regulatory policy defining a code of conduct and guidelines for media houses. This should also cover the advertisement and film industries. It has been observed quite often that a ban or a notice is slapped on some advertisement, music video or a film when it has already made its way to the TV screens of billions, causing huge losses to the producers. With clear policy guidelines such issues can be easily avoided, not just with the locally produced content, but for films coming in from across the borders.

The absence of these guidelines has caused monetary loss to producers and problems involved in such productions.
