Living is hard, dying isn’t easier either
RAWALPINDI: Living is hard, dying isn’t easier either. Numerous cemeteries in large metropolitan cities of Sindh are now densely occupied to the point where there is no space for more burials. The Sindh government and the municipal authorities have turned a blind eye towards the issue. In the major cemeteries across Karachi, bulldozing existing graves to make space for new ones is now a common practice.
On the other hand, the land mafia and encroachers illegally occupy any vacant space available in cemeteries. As the authorities remain silent on the issue, there is the possibility of them providing ‘legal’ cover to the land grabbers and encroachers.
