Switching parties

Letter December 06, 2017
It is ironically astonishing to see howJaved Hashmi who left PML-N, is now willing to join the same party again

LAHORE: With reports of the PML-N senior leadership meeting former PTI member Javed Hashmi, it is easy to say that political overtures are only motivated by future gains and how yesterday’s bitter foes can become today’s best friends. It is ironically astonishing to see how the very same Javed Hashmi who left the PML-N back in 2011, is now more than willing to join the same party again, mentioning ‘disagreement’ over important policy matters the reason for leaving both the parties, that is, the PML-N in 2011 and the PTI in 2014.

Sadly, had it not been policies on national interests, switching political parties would not have been as frequent as it is in the case of Pakistani politicians. Nevertheless, the people will be appreciative and supportive of the move as long as it is good for democracy in the country and improved governance.
