LAHORE: Time to time news reports of the US demanding Pakistan to ‘do more’ against the terrorist organisations appear in the mainstream media. The demands are mostly followed by a rebuttal or a counter-argument issued by the PM or an official from the Foreign Office, yet it does little to change the stance of the US. As Pakistan since long has been accused of providing covert support to terrorists not just within its own territory but across the border too, it is about time that the Pakistan Foreign Office and the ministry concerned brought about the required necessary change in strategy and conduct of foreign affairs.
Following the stance of the US, other regional powers too have taken a similar stance and have cornered a country that itself is constantly engaged in war with terrorists and has paid a heavy price for it. Hence, it is clearer than ever that without a change in the US’s rhetoric towards Pakistan things are least likely to change for the better.
