Implementation of NAP

Letter December 01, 2017
Part of the solution to the problem lies in initiating meaningful dialogue with tribal leaders

QUETTA: The Chief Minister of Balochistan, Nawab Sanaullah Zehri, along with army officials, reviewed the implementation of the National Action Plan in the province. The officials iterated adopting a more hardline and aggressive approach towards the terrorists and anti-state elements causing instability in the province. However, a strong rhetoric and hardline approach are not enough to deal with the issues the province is currently facing. Part of the solution to the problem lies in initiating meaningful dialogue with tribal leaders and building a relationship of trust with them. We should remember that it’s not only external factors that are responsible for the instability in Balochistan, but also the locals having grievances against the government.
