Female employee of NADRA had to withdraw the charges of sexual harassment she levelled against an official
KARACHI: Recently, a female employee of NADRA had to withdraw the charges of sexual harassment she levelled against an official of the organisation on grounds of biased investigations into the matter by the committee formed on the orders of the interior ministry. The issue is another instance that highlights the circumstances women have to face at the hands of their male counterparts.
Despite being found guilty during the initial inquiry, the official continued to harass the female employee. Following this another inquiry was ordered by the ministry of interior but it has now been closed owing to the unwillingness of the accuser to continue the investigations. However, she was forced to withdraw the charges as she faced threatening attitude by the FIA officials handling the case, according to a report published in this newspaper.
Keeping the above in view the interior ministry should not close the investigations and instead provide protection to the female employee while assuring the removal of the official concerned, who is currently on a forced sabbatical.
