KARACHI: It is elating to know that despite the ordeal citizens all over Pakistan had to go through, many scheduled literary, art and music events were conducted smoothly without any rupture by the protestors or the situation that prevailed in the cities over the past two days. Notable events organised over the weekend were Faisalabad Literary Festival and Karachi Music Festival.
Both the events were graced with the presence of renowned figures from their respective fields. The three-day music festival had over 40 musicians and singers and offered audiences renditions covering different music genres, from classical to pop and rock. Similarly, the Faisalabad Literature Festival offered listeners rich panel talks and discussions on topics ranging from the country’s political and cultural history to the current political situation.
However, only a limited number of people could make it to the events partly due to the law and order situation and more because of the lack of awareness about such events. As invites for such events are sent and issued to a selected few, many remain unable to attend them despite their interest in literature and music. Therefore, such events should be an open house.
