Authorities of the body are confronting one another, accusing of mismanagement and financial irregularities

ISLAMABAD: Earlier the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan and now another education body, the National Testing Service, is grappling with maladministration, embezzlement and misappropriation. Science and Technology Minister Mir Dostain Khan Domki wrote a letter to the chairman board of directors of the body to remove the current chairman of the NTS from his post. However, the NTS chairman has regarded the move as one beyond the domain of ministerial powers of Domki. Now that the authorities of the body are confronting one another, accusing one another of mismanagement and financial irregularities, the relevant court should take action on the matter. As politically-motivated appointments and removals of heads of such bodies is not an uncommon practice in Pakistan, a transparent probe should be the only way forward, considering that any biased action will drastically affect the working of the education departments in the country.
