In spite of the day-long MQM-PSP fiasco, an alliance between the two is still a possibility
KARACHI: Despite the disagreement on the issue of delimitation of electoral constituencies and its unlikely resolution in the limited time left for the 2018 elections, political parties and groups are already seen engaged in political huddles, making alliances while inviting estranged members and leaders from other parties to their own. In spite of the day-long MQM-PSP fiasco, an alliance between the two is still a possibility. Similarly, on the other side, major religious parties like the JUI-F and the JUI-Siraj-ul-Haq and others have announced plans to revive the Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal. The PPP as of now stands on its own ground, disregarding the MQM-PSP alliance as ‘hopeless’, while giving similar statements about the PML-N or the PTI, the PPP is probably overwhelmingly hopeful of holding its cadre in the next election or is just simply giving the alliance formation more time and thought. Therefore, what’s the need of the time is a consensus on the issue of delimitation among the political parties before the deadline given to the government by the Election Commission of Pakistan.
