Biased towards Sindh?

Letter November 03, 2017
Sharjeel raised hue and cry over his ‘political victimisation’ at the hands of the accountability body

LAHORE: It is ironical to see that the same members of the provincial assembly of Sindh who appreciated the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) over cases and investigation against Nawaz Sharif and politicians from other parties are now seen lambasting the same NAB over the arrest of Sindh MPA Sharjeel Inam Memon. The MPA has been charged with corruption in for giving out an advertisement contract for one of the provincial government’s awareness campaigns. The MPA and almost the entire Sindh Assembly accused NAB of having a biased attitude towards the members of the assembly. Though Memon might have faced arrest for the first time, this is not certainly the first time his name has been heard in such matters.

Previously, the former information minister was suspected of having a major role in the Lyari gang war and the Uzair Baloch affairs. As the NAB’s team awaits the arrival of deposed PM Nawaz Sharif, Memon can witness that he is not being given any partial treatment as the ousted premier faces the same as well. Raising a hue and cry over his ‘political victimisation’ at the hands of the accountability body, the MPA went as far to say that NAB has deliberately made the entire Sindh government face the courts.
