LAHORE: The reconciliation between the PPP and the PML-Q, of which Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi is a vital part, will undoubtedly be the mother of all political rapprochements, given the fact that Benazir Bhutto had, in an email to one of her confidantes, named the gentleman as one of the people that should be held responsible in case she were to be assassinated. President Asif Ali Zardari has by this act proven his tact and agility in the politics of power.
Railway trains don’t run, electricity is not distributed through distribution cables, there are no teachers to teach in government schools, no free medicines for the poor, nor any hope for the thousands of women killed or physically assaulted in the name of honour — all this does not seem to worry the government, because it is busy pursuing its agenda of reconciliation.
