Rediscovering literature

Karachi is on its way to find its lost literati once again

KARACHI: Karachi is on its way to find its lost literati once again. Literary festivals in recent times have been organised more frequently and are certainly more than a gathering offering readings on literature. Such events will not only play a pivotal role in promoting the Urdu language but regional languages too through talks on works of various old and contemporary writers. Also a useful platform is being offered to students to make it to the celebrated fraternity as research papers from recent graduates were presented for discussion at the Karachi Conference. Similar events should be extended to other provinces, particularly K-P and Balochistan where art and literature are still the least socially-accepted fields of work and academia.
