Pak-Sri Lanka cricket match

Letter October 29, 2017
Cricket diplomacy is yet another opportunity for the government to not only strengthen its ties with other countries

HYDERABAD: The Sri Lankan cricket team was the last international team to visit Pakistan back in 2009 when terrorists attacked them and disrupted foreign cricket tours to the country. Amusingly, the same team is now set to visit Pakistan again to conclude the T-20 series being played between the two countries on Oct 29th at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. The past eight years were indeed marked as a troublesome period for the Pakistan Cricket Board, which has finally managed to bag a game against an international team after successfully hosting the immensely popular Pakistan Super League earlier this year. Cricket diplomacy is yet another opportunity for the government to not only strengthen its ties with other countries but to reap the massive economic benefits that the cricket series brings.
