Appeal to chief justice

Letter October 23, 2017
We appeal to the chief justice of the Sindh High Court to look into the matter on a priority basis

DADU: The Government Boys Primary School (GBPS) in Chinjani village located in UC Kamal Khan of Johi tehsil in Dadu district has 240-plus students enrolled with only 30 benches, three chairs and only two teachers. This shows the real emergency in primary education of the province. On the one hand, the Sindh government has been claiming the enforcement of a state of emergency across the province for the opening of non-functional or closed primary schools, and on the other several functional schools have been badly affected by the transfer of teachers from those regular schools where only few teachers were serving. The Chinjani village school is one of these institutions.

There were only three teachers in this school but after the declaration of emergency, one teacher was transferred to another school. Teaching 240 students on 30 benches is against the basic right of education but no one truly cares. The idea is to only obey the orders of the high court, no matter how the students are affected.

We have sent several written complaints to the education authorities, including the secretary education, the district education officer and the district and sessions judge Dadu, but no action has been taken so far. The condition of the school building is also in a critical state. Besides, there is no facility of drinking water.

We appeal to the chief justice of the Sindh High Court to look into the matter on a priority basis.
