LAHORE: A few days ago the video of a bus conductor and his helper abusing and torturing special children in a moving bus in Lahore went viral. Although court and the Punjab chief minister have already taken action over the matter, the insensitive attitude depicts the ignorant minds that seek pleasure in abusing the helpless or the ones unable to express pain over the insult. Though special children deserve more care, love and attention, owing to sickening attitudes they rather become even more vulnerable to abuse and neglect. A society that finds pleasure in abusing the helpless is least likely to realise their needs and dignity as human beings, who are equally capable of being a functioning member of society if treated with love and respect.
