I agree that almost all forces in Afghanistan have realised that they cannot completely defeat the Taliban.
LA VERNE, CA, US: This is with reference to Rasul Bakhsh Rais’s article of April 18 titled “No peace without the Taliban”.
I tend to agree with the writer that almost all forces in Afghanistan have realised that they cannot completely defeat or eliminate the Taliban. It seems, going by recent media reports, that the Americans are even willing to give them a share in the Afghan government as long as they fulfil some key demands of the US such as: 1) That the Taliban separate themselves from al Qaeda and cooperate with the international community in capturing all those responsible for 9/11. 2) That some bases remain in Afghanistan where US troops may be stationed. 3) That the Taliban will adhere to the Afghan constitution and respect the rights of women and minorities. 4) That the Americans have a share in all future energy-related deals.
