Pakistan has been facing humiliation at the hands of the global community
KARACHI: One after the other, Pakistan has been facing humiliation at the hands of the global community perhaps due to its own misconduct and shortcomings. Otherwise seemingly trivial matters, certainly add up to the negative image of a country’s practices. Ouster of PM Nawaz Sharif, not being able to deliver a befitting response against criticism of Pakistan being home to terrorists and now a recent allegation by an Intelligence Bureau officer against his agency itself protecting terrorists through its own spies is another nail in the coffin of the already falling statecraft.
In the recent case, where the IB itself has been alleged as the protector of the terrorist, is in fact more alarming as with such instances the countries that happen to be Pakistan’s allies will be wary of its efforts to curb terrorism. Further, the accusation that the court, the government and IB officials themselves have paid no heed to the officer’s pleas to conduct investigations puts a question mark on the role of the intelligence and of the law-enforcement agencies in the country.
