Looming global disaster

Letter September 17, 2017
Climate change has started to result in the form of natural calamities like famine and malnourishment

ISLAMABAD: The field of medicine has seen tremendous advancements over the past few years. Treatments to deadly, incurable diseases are available now. Prevention and cure is more advanced and reachable now. Despite the improved life expectancy that has reached new levels now, more deaths are being estimated globally. Where science has found treatments to pre-existing epidemics and diseases, it has failed to prevent to the origin of the rather new human-induced disasters in the form of climate change and armed conflicts.

Climate change has started to result in the form of natural calamities like famine and malnourishment. Global food security has dropped to its lowest. Another factor is the massive immigration mainly due to military conflicts unbalancing the population distribution, while excessively burdening the natural resources’ reserves in certain regions.

Therefore, what is likely to be more catastrophic to the global security and order are the conflicts and the global dominance race that has resultantly, led to climate change and armed conflicts across the world.
