Bhutto case reopening

Letter April 16, 2011
There are many other issues from our history which need a revisit as well.

KARACHI: This is with reference to your coverage of the reopening of the Zulfikar Ali Bhutto case by the PPP government. Since the party is in power, it may feel that it has the mandate to reopen the case but there are many other issues from our history which need a revisit as well.

For example, what about the 1971 secession of East Pakistan? After all, those who caused the country’s break-up were never really punished for their misdeeds. Generals Tikka Khan, Niazi and Yahya Khan never paid for their actions. Also, Zulfikar Ali Bhutto’s role in the whole issue should also perhaps be reassessed.
