Offal had been lying to rot for the whole of three days in areas such as North Nazimabad and Buffer Zone
KARACHI: This year, animals bought for sacrifice for Eid were in abundance in Karachi. Whether it was owing to a growing middle class or the fact that with the diminishing power of the MQM, no one showed up at your doorsteps asking for ‘bhatta’ on each animal one may have bought, is much to be debated. However, more animals meant more of their remains dumped on the streets and hence, in some localities of the metropolis, the roads were covered with offal and animal heads polluting the air.
These had been lying to rot for the whole of three days in areas such as North Nazimabad and Buffer Zone. This made travelling to these areas almost impossible as one had to breathe in such a disgusting atmosphere. While the work in some areas were commendable with little to no animal remains on the roads, but the authorities concerned should have been more proactive in cleaning up the mess everywhere.
I would request the Karachi Municipal Cooperation and other authorities concerned to visit these areas for proof of their incompetence and take remedial action.
