PPP’s failed tactics

Letter September 05, 2017
It is unfortunate that the murderers of one of the country’s most influential persons are still at large

KARACHI: On Aug 31st, the verdict in the Benazir Bhutto murder case was announced, and to everybody’s disappointment it failed to answer the questions behind Pakistan’s first female prime minister’s assassination. It is unfortunate that even after over a decade the murderers of one of the country’s most influential persons are still at large. The establishment and the PPP leadership, which had vowed to bring justice to the slain leader, failed to name the culprits let alone arrest them.

The party that vehemently chants the slogan ‘Bhutto zinda hai’ has no heir of that name left amongst it, and has done little to nothing to carry forward the Bhutto legacy. Even though none of the members of the party was present at the hearing of what could have been a historic verdict, they are now shamelessly objecting to it.

What makes them think that the voter will be fooled by such tactics when their deliberate carelessness — not only in terms of Benazir’s case but also in regard to the mess they have created of their governance in Sindh — is right in front of the world for all to see. It’s time the voters took things into their own hands for a better and more progressive Pakistan.
