A major step taken following the census is the inclusion of the Afghan refugees in the national database
PESHAWAR: The release of the provisional census results conducted in March 2017 has started. With whopping new figures for the country’s total population, they show that the majority still dwells in rural areas of provinces, with K-P having the highest percentage of the rural population. Pakistan’s economy still massively relies on agriculture for its earnings. Subsistence and commercial farming is still a source of livelihood for many households.
A major step taken following the recent census is the inclusion of the Afghan refugees in the national database. Inclusion of refugees would certainly add accuracy to the figures estimating population increase.
However, it must not end here for the government. With negative trade balances and looming debt figures it must formulate appropriate policies to resolve these issues, defining its policy to deal with the growing population that results in inflation, unemployment increase and other economic problems.
