Corrupt officials

Letter April 12, 2011
It is well known that these officials are patronised and protected by their godfathers who are themselves corrupt.

ISLAMABAD: This refers to your report of April 12, titled “Revenue collection: Sindh CM orders action against corrupt officials”.

Knowing well the inside working of government, I am sure the honourable chief minister is merely playing to the gallery and does not mean to enforce his direction to punish the negligent and corrupt officials. It is well known that these officials are patronised and protected by their godfathers who are themselves corrupt. Besides, transfer of such officials will be a blessing in disguise for the remaining corrupt officials who are presently sidelined and are anxiously looking towards their own patrons to be posted in the lucrative revenue departments like excise and taxation. In any case, unless some strong and honest leaders curb the corruption with iron hand, the public at large will continue to suffer at the hands of revenue officials.
