Open letter to Shahid Afridi

Letter April 11, 2011
I do not understand why a third critical piece has to be carried.

LAHORE: This is with reference to the Speaker’s Corner of April 11 by Vaqas Asghar titled “An open letter to Shahid Afridi”.

I thought the publication of two articles, severely critical of the Pakistan cricket ODI captain, would have been enough, but I was mistaken. I do not understand why a third critical piece has to be carried. Do we think that Shahid Afridi is some kind of saint and would hence be immune from make public gaffes? And if we don’t have such high expectations, then why not give him the benefit of the doubt? He has stated that he didn’t mean what he said and that his words were quoted out of context — so we should let the matter rest.
