It is disappointing to see that veteran directors are failing to keep up with the changing dynamics of the industry
KARACHI: The Pakistani film industry is finally experiencing growth owing to the new lot of directors and film producers who has brought about a welcome change. Although box offices figures may many a time depict losses, these films in general continue to earn positive feedback from the public.
However, there is no second thought to the fact that negative depiction of Punjabi culture by few directors has been one of the reasons for negative box office numbers. Movies like Syed Noor’s Chain Aye Na that is slated to release this year and director Sangeeta’s Tum Hi Ho are few of such examples. Gaudy outfits, poorly choreographed dance numbers combined with outdated film production technology is a waste of the talent and the resources we have.
It is disappointing to see that veteran directors are failing to keep up with the changing dynamics of the industry. It’s about time that they learnt the new tactics of trade and worked towards uplifting the industry.
