ISLAMABAD: We are shocked to see two villagers of Sargodha indulging in the socially-repugnant act of cannibalism but we are not equally shocked when we see many people indulge in the habit of backbiting — which has been compared in the Holy Quran with eating the flesh of dead brothers (Surah Al-Hujurat 26:12).
Our society has already accepted things like spurious drugs, adulteration of food, red chillies mixed with red brick sand, coriander mixed with horse dung, black pepper mixed with papaya seeds, and so on. Such being the norm, we may soon ignore the cannibals in our midst and treat them as others in our society.
