ISLAMABAD: This is with reference to your editorial of April 6 titled “Giving your exam — in handcuffs!”. Frankly speaking I am shocked by the treatment of the police towards a teenaged boy, in that they didn’t even allow him to take off his shackles, as he gave his class nine exam.
I think our society has little or no morals. Not least, because any person with some money could in fact pay the boy’s bail and he wouldn’t have to face such humiliation. But I guess we have other priorities. What this case clearly shows is the need to have a system where people who undergo trial and cannot afford a lawyer and/or pay bail, should be given legal and financial assistance.
