The disputed territory will try to observe their fast amidst chaos and turbulence
HYDERABAD: The ICC World Cup began two days ago, giving us a reason to stay hooked to our TV screens. Despite having the pleasure of cheering for the green shirts, we will also have the pleasure of watching our team play against our very own stark rivals but friendly neighbours, on and off the field, India.
As the people of the two nations will patiently sit in front of their TV screens, sip on their chais and pray for their respective team to win, a disputed territory will try to observe their fast amidst chaos and turbulence.
The unrest in the Indian Occupied Kashmir (IOK) had led to days of no mobile service as they were snapped following the tension and strife post the killing of a local militant commander. Although the mobile services have been restored, the curfew is still in place under strict security in some areas of the valley. But their silent pleas during, what is often termed, ‘peaceful’ times will once again go unheard, as the residents of the two countries carry on with their daily life; blaming, accusing and then reconciling relationships with one another but letting the uprising in IOK to only rest to make way for bigger storms to come.
