I completely agree with what Masood has brilliantly put across in his column
ISLAMABAD: This refers to Talat Masood’s article titled “Trump’s first odyssey deepens fissures within Muslim world” that appeared in this publication on May 24th. Masood rightly criticises US President Donald Trump’s derogatory remarks on Iran and the creation by Saudi Arabia of a front against Iran. The article also mentioned that our army leadership is in favour of joining the new Saudi-led alliance but that the political leadership should have taken the parliament and leaders of the Shia community into confidence in this regard. It further states that Israel’s dangerous game of fomenting the US and Saudi Arabia against Iran would destabilise the entire region.
I completely agree with what Masood has brilliantly put across in his column and I am of the firm opinion that Pakistan must not become part of the Saudi-led alliance. As a first step in ensuring that, we must definitely withdraw our decision of letting General Raheel Sharif from leading the multi-nation army created by the Saudis.
