Catastrophe and injustice in the workplace

Letter May 02, 2017
Backstabbing and demotivation must be reprimanded and castigated

LAHORE: Rampant corruption, nepotism, misuse of power and mishandling of resources has led Pakistan into doldrums, which is very intrusive.

The upper echelons or seniors are awarded with increments, bonuses whereas juniors and most deserving ones, who work diligently and burn the midnight oil, are ignored. The higher administration just turns a deaf ear when it comes to increments and motivational boost ups, which creates a lack of interest in work.

Self-aggrandisement is common, only sycophants are enjoying the benefits, while the rest are just losing their health by working all day. Hiring and promotion is on the basis of political affinity; the procedure of promotion via performance evaluation is absent. Therefore, the deprived young professionals leave the country.

Backstabbing and demotivation must be reprimanded and castigated. Deserving young professionals must be provided with a sound and friendly environment along with opportunities to grow and flourish. There is a dire need of an egalitarian approach as the country cannot become an Asian tiger if these discrepancies, impediments and barricades are not removed.
