The fact is that national pride is being used by certain lobbies and vested interests inside Pakistan to maintain the status quo. True, several Pakistani industries may be threatened by the economies of scale of Indian manufacturing, but given that India is increasingly becoming a net importer of raw materials and food items, the opportunities on offer must not be shunned just to preserve the interests of a narrow minority.
