KARACHI: I am looking forward to the great cricket match at Mohali. I would be mighty happy if Pakistan wins. If not, I would be glad to see the neighbour make it to the finals. I am keeping my ‘honour’ well away from the game. There are other issues that bother me and that actually hurt my honour. For example, a BBC report, which said that India dismissed 14 “fake pilots” after it was proved that they were flying with fake documents. Juxtapose this with what happens in Pakistan, where we might as well have the following (of course hypothetical, but true) report: “Pakistan retains jobs of 355 ‘fake’ MPs”. The report would read that the degrees of 57 members of parliament were confirmed by the Higher Education Commission as ‘fake’, while another 298 MPs refused to submit their degrees for verification. These are of course reported facts.
